Therapies
Therapies
At the Westchester Foundation, we will always approach dependency and mental health issues with a focus on the essential creativity and potential of recovery and well-being.
Recovery will reunite individuals with their authentic selves, allowing them to fully embrace who they truly are. It will not be something merely to endure but something to be enjoyed—a process of rediscovering freedom and wholeness.
The Foundation itself will be a key contributor to this therapeutic journey, and we will place great emphasis on the healthy and harmonious operation of our entire organization to ensure a supportive environment for healing.
The therapies we will offer will be thoughtfully selected based on the genuine and meaningful impact they can have on each person’s recovery. Our goal will always be to provide the best possible resources and support to foster lasting transformation.
Before admission to the Westchester Foundation, our medical team will engage with the patient, their family, and/or their doctors or medical advisers to thoroughly assess the nature of the issues to be addressed, their current status, and the patient’s present condition.
Upon admission
– Comprehensive one-on-one discussions will take place to understand the individual’s medical condition and mental health status.
– A review of recent psychiatric history will be conducted.
– We will gather information about family history.
– Personal history and life trajectory will be explored.
– We will assess any history of addictions or addictive behaviors.
– Clinical observation will be carried out.
– A diagnosis will be made, and specific psychopharmacological medications will be prescribed if necessary and agreed upon with the patient.
– Ongoing medical follow-up will include monitoring biological parameters and constants.
Whether mental health issues pre-date addiction or arise as a consequence of it, a psychiatrist will be available to address the needs of those seeking help. The psychiatrist will collaborate closely with our medical and therapeutic teams to ensure comprehensive care.
The Westchester Foundation’s mental health treatment program will be designed to support guests through the process of diagnosing and treating any mental health disorders or concerns they may experience. Our therapeutic approach will empower individuals to live their best possible lives as independently as possible, laying the foundation for their journey toward recovery.
A vast variety of mental health illnesses will be suitable for inpatient treatment. Upon admission to the clinic, each patient’s individual treatment goals will be personalized. Some potential treatment goals and focuses may include, but are not limited to:
– Establishing a state of emotional stability, where intense emotions or mood swings will be effectively managed to allow for improved daily functioning and quality of life.
– Identifying and replacing maladaptive coping mechanisms with healthy alternatives, enhancing resilience to stress and reducing reliance on harmful behaviors.
– Improving interpersonal skills and communication, leading to healthier relationships with family, friends, and colleagues while reducing feelings of isolation.
– Developing strategies for effectively navigating life transitions and challenges, minimizing their impact on mental health and maintaining progress toward recovery.
– Challenging and reducing internalized stigma and self-judgment associated with mental health issues, fostering self-compassion and acceptance.
Who Is This For?
This program will be for individuals struggling with their mental health, whether they have a formal diagnosis or not. Early intervention will be a key predictor of successful recovery, ensuring that no one is ever deemed “not bad enough” to benefit from treatment and support. Additionally, at the Westchester Foundation, we will hold hope that every person is capable of successful recovery; meaning that no one will be considered “too far gone” to benefit from treatment.
Often, individuals experiencing co-occurring disorders (mental health disorders and addiction simultaneously) fall through the cracks of treatment. At the Westchester Foundation, we will be world leaders in treating co-occurring disorders, believing in the importance of supporting all guests in addressing their mental health concerns and addictions concurrently.
Duration
The standard mental health program at the Westchester Foundation will last for 28 days (4 weeks). However, if guests feel they would benefit from a longer stay, they will be welcome to extend their time for as long as necessary. We have supported guests in staying for months during their recovery, offering a gradual reintegration program for those who choose to do so.
Interventions
Clinical Work
Guests will be allocated an individual therapist who will be hand-picked from our team to best suit their specific needs, working with them daily during individual therapy sessions. All guests will also have access to our daily group therapies, which will utilize various therapeutic approaches, allowing them to connect with peers and experience the power of group healing. Additionally, guests will be under the care of our in-house psychiatrist, who will see them regularly and manage any necessary medications.
Medical Health Check
All guests admitted under this program will undergo extensive physical medical examinations and testing to identify current or potential somatic concerns. Our medical team will conduct these assessments. With fully medicalized facilities, guests will not need to shuttle back and forth between offices; instead, they will receive assessments and treatments in the comfort, safety, and familiarity of our home. This enables us to medically manage their detox, ensuring maximum comfort and access to medical care 24/7.
Holistic Treatments and Assessments
Our “Body, Mind, Source” team will offer a wide array of treatments designed to complement the therapeutic process, ranging from structured exercise such as Pilates to traditional Asian medicinal treatments like Ayurveda. Guests will have access to daily activities, as well as complimentary use of our fully equipped gym, pool, sauna, and hammam (steam room). In addition to our complementary therapies, we will also provide a selection of massages to support guests’ overall positive body image.
Nutrition and Sleep Hygiene
Guests will work with our in-house dietician to develop a personalized nutrition plan that supports mental health and energy levels. This will include workshops on how specific nutrients affect mood and cognition. We will also offer sleep workshops to educate participants on the importance of sleep in recovery. Furthermore, our team will provide interactive cooking classes and sleep labs, enabling participants to actively engage in learning and practicing healthy habits.
Aftercare Planning
If individuals come to us to recover from mental health challenges but return to the same circumstances as before, they will face a heightened risk of relapse. A key aspect of long-term recovery will be developing personalized aftercare plans, including recommendations for continued therapy, coaching, or support groups focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle that supports each person’s journey toward recovery.
Treatment Focus
The Westchester Foundation will develop a comprehensive treatment program aimed at helping guests recover from the emotional and psychological effects of burnout caused by significant stress. The treatment objectives for this pathway will include, but not be limited to:
– Disconnecting from work and technology to facilitate a “reset,” enabling a new, balanced lifestyle.
– Engaging in holistic treatments that relax the body and strengthen the mind-body connection to promote overall wellness.
– Developing skills and tools that support mental and emotional well-being, reducing the psychological pressures of work.
– Engaging in therapeutic work to identify any underlying psychological concerns contributing to burnout or increasing susceptibility to it.
– Recovering a sense of psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being to best prepare guests for a healthier future.
– Participating in individual or group workshops on time management, delegation, and boundary setting to address unhealthy work habits, reinforcing the importance of these skills in preventing future burnout.
– Attending psychoeducational sessions on nutrition and sleep hygiene, emphasizing their roles in mental health and stress resilience for a holistic approach to recovery.
Who Is This For?
This program will be designed for anyone experiencing severe symptoms of burnout. The Westchester Foundation will also recognize that burnout frequently affects individuals dedicating significant time to volunteering or caregiving roles.
Duration
Guests will typically participate in the program for 12 days (2 weeks), though we will recommend extending their stay as needed to fully address their burnout. Individualized recommendations will be made during the pre-admission assessment based on the severity of burnout symptoms.
Interventions
Clinical Work
Guests will experience a blend of individual and group therapy sessions tailored to their unique needs and goals. Group therapy will allow them to benefit from the power of peer support, while specialized behavioral therapies and other tools will help them not only cope with their current burnout but also prevent future occurrences.
Medical Health Check
Upon admission, guests will undergo comprehensive physical medical examinations to identify both potential contributors to burnout and somatic complaints resulting from it. With fully medicalized facilities, all assessments and treatments will be conducted in the comfort, safety, and familiarity of our clinic.
Nutrition and Sleep Hygiene
Our in-house dietician will create personalized nutrition plans aimed at supporting mental health and energy levels. Workshops will educate guests on how specific nutrients affect mood and cognition. Sleep workshops will emphasize the importance of sleep, the impact of sleep deprivation on performance and health, and strategies for improving sleep hygiene. Interactive cooking classes and sleep labs will also provide opportunities to practice healthy lifestyle habits.
Digital Detox
During treatment, guests will be encouraged to take a true break from technology and reset their relationship with electronic devices such as phones and laptops. This digital detox will promote a more conscious relationship with technology, supporting a healthy work-life balance and the development of skills to manage digital communications effectively. These strategies will help minimize stress while enhancing productivity without the need for constant connectivity.
Medical Spa Complementary Treatments
Work with our Medical Spa team will play a key role in supporting recovery from burnout. Treatments will focus on calming and grounding techniques that promote steady energy flow throughout the body and relax the nervous system. Fitness and movement therapies will also be offered to encourage healthy physical activity and reconnection of the body and mind.
Aftercare Planning
To prevent relapse after treatment, we will develop a personalized aftercare plan for each patient. This plan will include recommendations for continued therapy, coaching, or support groups, all focused on maintaining a healthy work-life balance and preventing burnout recurrence. Long-term recovery will be supported by these tailored strategies to ensure lasting well-being.
Treatment Focus
The Westchester Foundation will offer an Assessment Pathway that allows guests to undergo a complete and thorough evaluation of their physical, psychological, dietetic, and functional body health. At the end of their stay, guests will receive a comprehensive 360-degree assessment report detailing our findings. With the guests’s consent, this report will be accessible to their health providers. Additionally, an individualized recommended recovery plan will outline the steps Westchester Foundation suggests guests take to address any identified concerns.
While the primary focus of this pathway will be on assessment rather than treatment, patients will still benefit from interventions provided by our clinical, medical, and therapeutic teams during their stay. Assessments will include, but are not limited to:
– Psychiatric assessment
– Psychological assessment
– General medical assessment
– Nutritional and dietetic assessment
– Functional movement assessment
– Complementary holistic assessment
Who Is This For?
This program will cater to anyone seeking a comprehensive examination and thorough investigation into their psychological and somatic health but may not yet be ready for in-patient treatment. Patients will be able to self-refer for this pathway. The program will also be particularly suited for referrals from medical doctors, mental health professionals, or other clinics who wish to have a complete work-up of their patients.
Duration
Patients will typically attend for 12 days (2 weeks). Should any issues of concern be identified during their stay, or if they wish to follow our proposed treatment plan, they will have the option to extend their stay and transition into our standard treatment program. This extension may last for an additional two weeks or longer, depending on the individual’s needs.
Interventions
Clinical Work
Patients will participate in individual sessions with our clinical team, undergoing a full biopsychosocial assessment, screenings, tests, and other evaluations to determine their current emotional and psychological well-being. Deeper themes, including past treatment and therapy histories, will be explored to enhance our treatment recommendations. Patients’ substance use history will also be assessed to measure risk factors and flag any concerning patterns. This will include psychiatric evaluations conducted by our in-house psychiatrist to establish each patient’s psychiatric baseline and make any necessary diagnoses.
Medical Health Check
All patients admitted to this program will undergo extensive medical examinations and testing to identify current or potential somatic concerns. The Westchester Foundation’s medical team, consisting of a psychiatrist, general medicine doctors, nursing staff, and specialists, will ensure comprehensive assessments. With fully medicalized facilities, patients will receive their assessments and treatments in the comfort, safety, and familiarity of our clinic, without needing to shuttle between offices.
Holistic Treatments and Assessments
Our spa team will offer a variety of treatments designed to complement the therapeutic process. These treatments will range from structured exercises like Pilates to traditional Asiatic medicinal treatments such as Ayurveda. Guests will also undergo assessments to evaluate their holistic well-being, including traditional metrics such as flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular capacity, as well as qualitative measurements of overall functional health.
Nutrition and Sleep Hygiene
Patients will work with our in-house dietician to develop a personalized nutrition plan that supports both mental health and energy levels. Workshops will educate patients on how specific nutrients affect mood and cognition. Sleep workshops will emphasize the importance of proper sleep, the impact of sleep deprivation on performance and health, and strategies for improving sleep hygiene. Additionally, the team will offer interactive cooking classes and sleep labs, where patients can actively engage in learning and practicing healthy habits.
End of Assessment Reports
At the conclusion of the assessment period, each patient will receive a Complete Assessment Report that details the results of all testing and assessments conducted by our teams. This report will provide a 360-degree snapshot of the patient’s physical, psychological, and holistic health. With the patient’s permission, the report can be shared with their medical providers. Alongside this, guests will receive a Recommended Treatment Plan that outlines any concerns identified and the recommended steps to address them. This will not only provide guests with answers regarding their health but also a clear path forward for continued care.
Treatment Focus

– Encouraging healthy lifestyle modifications, including personalized nutrition, physical activity, and sleep hygiene plans, aimed at improving physical health, boosting energy levels, and supporting mental wellbeing.
– Enhancing interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills to foster meaningful connections, improve relationships, and navigate social situations with confidence, contributing to a more fulfilling personal and professional life.
– Guiding participants in exploring their true selves to develop acceptance and authenticity, enabling them to live an honest and purposeful life aligned with their values and aspirations.
Who Is This For?
This program will be ideal for anyone looking to foster a deeper sense of wellbeing, enhance their mental and physical health, and promote personal growth. It will be particularly suited for individuals facing life’s complexities, navigating transitional phases, or seeking to enrich their personal and professional lives. Whether feeling overwhelmed by daily stressors or simply aspiring to improve the quality of their life, participants will benefit from the program’s structure, support, and guidance.
Duration
Participants will typically attend for 20 days (3 weeks). However, it will be recommended that they extend their stay if they feel they are continuing to benefit from the support and treatments provided.
Interventions
Clinical Work
Participants will experience a combination of individual and group therapy sessions to explore areas of strength and growth. Individual sessions will be tailored to each person’s unique needs, focusing on psychological issues that may be preventing them from living their ideal life. Group sessions will offer peer support and the sharing of coping strategies. Using evidence-based practices like cognitive-behavioral techniques and mindfulness strategies, participants will learn to manage stress, overcome limiting beliefs, and cultivate a growth mindset.
Medical Health Check
All participants admitted to this program will undergo extensive physical medical examinations to identify and address any potential somatic complaints. The medical team will include psychiatrists, general medicine doctors, and exceptional nursing staff, along with any necessary specialists. With fully medicalized facilities, participants will receive assessments and treatments in the comfort and familiarity of the Westchester Foundation, avoiding the need to shuttle between different offices.
Holistic Treatments
The spa team will play a crucial role in helping participants explore the body-mind connection and strengthen their relationship with their physical selves. Through a mix of physical activities, touch therapies, gentle fitness, and other complementary treatments, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how self-care and the way they interact with their body affect their overall health and wellbeing.
Nutrition and Sleep Hygiene
Participants will work with the in-house dietician to create personalized nutrition plans that support mental health and energy levels. This will include workshops on how specific nutrients affect mood and cognition. Additionally, sleep workshops will be offered to educate participants on the importance of sleep, the impact of sleep deprivation on performance and health, and strategies for improving sleep hygiene.
Aftercare Planning
To support sustained growth and wellbeing, the lead therapist will create a personalized aftercare plan before each participant’s departure. This plan will include recommendations for ongoing practices, resources for continued learning, and strategies to maintain the progress achieved during the program. The aftercare plan will ensure participants to continue their journey of growth and maintain the benefits they’ve gained long after they’ve completed the program.
Treatment Focus
The Westchester Foundation will offer a Sleep Improvement Pathway, aimed at helping individuals identify, treat, and recover from sleep disorders where possible. For more chronic conditions, the goal will be to manage them so they impose as little disturbance on daily life as possible. The treatment objectives of this pathway will include, but not be limited to:
– Helping participants develop and maintain a consistent sleep schedule.
– Enhancing the quality of sleep by increasing the proportion of restorative deep sleep and Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep stages, thereby reducing nighttime awakenings and improving overall sleep efficiency.
– Identifying and treating any underlying physical or psychological conditions contributing to sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, or chronic pain, through appropriate medical and therapeutic interventions.
– Gradually reducing dependence on sleep-inducing medications through alternative therapies and behavioral changes, aiming for natural sleep without pharmacological aids, when clinically appropriate.
– Teaching participants effective coping mechanisms to manage anxiety related to sleep, including cognitive-behavioral techniques, relaxation exercises, and stress management strategies, to reduce bedtime anxiety and promote relaxation.
– Providing comprehensive education on sleep hygiene practices, including creating a conducive sleep environment, understanding the impact of diet and exercise on sleep, and learning how daytime behaviors influence sleep patterns. This will empower participants with the knowledge and tools to manage their sleep disorder effectively.
Who Is This For?
This pathway will be designed for individuals experiencing severe sleep disturbances that they are unable to manage on their own. It will be ideal for those suffering from conditions such as insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders, parasomnias, insufficient sleep syndrome, and hypersomnolence disorders.
Duration
Participants will typically attend for 12 days (2 weeks), although it will be recommended that they extend their stay as needed, based on the severity of their sleep disorder. Individualized recommendations will be made during a pre-admission assessment.
Interventions
Clinical Work
The program will integrate individual and group therapy sessions focused on the psychological aspects of sleep disorders. In individual sessions, therapists will work closely with each participant to explore personal triggers for sleep disturbances, such as anxiety, stress, or underlying psychological conditions. Group sessions will provide a supportive environment where participants can share experiences and strategies for overcoming sleep-related challenges.
Nursing Support and Treatment
Participants will have access to the dedicated nursing team 24 hours a day, and since many sleep difficulties occur during the night, the nurses will be the first line of support. Participants will undergo thorough sleep assessments, and the nursing team will help monitor sleep patterns through specially designed sleep diaries. Medications will be closely administered and monitored daily, with regular checks to ensure the ongoing physical health of all participants. The nursing team will also deliver interventions and psychoeducation sessions to empower participants to take control of their sleep.
Medical Health Check
Upon admission, all participants will undergo comprehensive physical medical examinations to identify potential contributing factors to their sleep disorder and any somatic complaints resulting from sleep disturbances. The medical team, consisting of psychiatrists, general medicine doctors, and skilled nurses, will work together to ensure complete treatment. Additional specialists may be brought in if necessary to provide thorough care.
Holistic Treatments
The Foundation’s spa team will offer complementary therapies to enhance the body-mind connection and promote tranquility and relaxation. A combination of touch therapies, gentle fitness, and other treatments will be used to calm the mind, release excess energy, and prepare the body for restful sleep. Psychoeducation on the physiological and psychological aspects of sleep will empower participants with the knowledge to improve their sleep hygiene.
Nutrition and Sleep Hygiene
Nutritional counseling will play an integral role in this pathway. Participants will receive psychoeducation on the effects of caffeine, sugar, and certain nutrients on sleep patterns. Dietary adjustments will be recommended to promote better sleep. Additionally, sleep hygiene workshops will educate participants on creating optimal sleep environments and routines, such as minimizing blue light exposure before bedtime and establishing a calming pre-sleep ritual.
Digital Detox
Participants will be encouraged to reduce screen time, particularly in the evening, to minimize exposure to blue light, which interferes with melatonin production. Workshops on digital mindfulness will help participants develop healthier relationships with their devices and reduce the stimulatory effects of digital media on the brain, creating a more conducive environment for restful sleep.
Aftercare Planning
To ensure long-term success, the Westchester Foundation team will collaborate with each participant to develop a comprehensive aftercare plan. This will include ongoing support options, such as follow-up therapy sessions, support groups focused on sleep health, and access to educational resources. The team will also facilitate connections with community resources and wellness programs to support participants in maintaining healthy sleep habits post-treatment.
Interventions will serve as powerful catalysts for change, often inspiring hope that solutions can be found to issues that may seem overwhelming or insurmountable. A professional intervention conducted in the home of the individual in need will be a highly effective step towards recovery. The Westchester Foundation’s team will be prepared to mediate that crucial first conversation, guiding individuals and their loved ones toward a path of healing and recovery.
With the guest’s consent, the Westchester Foundation will invite families to actively participate in the treatment process through family conferences. However, we will also address the unique needs of families in their own right. Families are often considered of peripheral importance, but that will not be the case at the Westchester Foundation. We recognize that families will need help and support not only in relation to their loved one in treatment but also for their own well-being. This is why we will have family therapists on staff who will design a comprehensive 3-day programme specifically for family members.
At the Westchester Foundation, we will understand that recovery is not an overnight process but rather a lifelong journey of growth and healing. This path will require dedication, resilience, and continuous support.
When individuals return to the same environment they were in before treatment, maintaining recovery can be challenging. They will have transformed significantly during treatment, so it is crucial that their world evolves to support these changes. That is why we will prioritize creating a personalized aftercare plan to guide you once you leave our care.
During your recovery with us, your lead therapist will collaborate closely with you to develop this plan, ensuring that you feel fully supported as you continue your recovery journey. Our commitment will be to walk beside you, equipping you with the tools, resources, and encouragement needed to face the challenges ahead with confidence and strength.
Your customized aftercare plan will be designed to help you transition smoothly from treatment to everyday life, ensuring that the strong foundation built during your time with us is reinforced with practical strategies and ongoing support. This plan may include, but is not limited to:
– Relapse Prevention Strategies
– Integration with a Support Network
– Re-engagement with Health-Promoting Activities
– Ongoing Counseling and Support**
– Personal Coaching
– Scheduled Psychiatric Consultations
To help you begin your post-treatment journey with confidence, the Westchester Foundation will offer a “Journey Home Companion”—a supportive professional who can travel home with you, providing reassurance and guidance as you adjust to your daily environment. Additionally, for those in long-term recovery, we will offer “booster stays,” allowing you to return to our facility for a short period—ranging from a few days to a week—as a refresher to reinforce the progress made during your initial stay.
Our aftercare program will be designed not just as a safety net, but as a springboard into a life where you are thriving, not just surviving. Together, we will ensure that your journey continues with continuous growth, fully supported at every step by the compassionate and expert care for which the Westchester Foundation will be known.
